What has changed at Preston Physiotherapy since COVID-19

Author: Rachel Neate

COVID-19 has been a challenging time for many people. There has been many things to stress about, including finances, health and well being, isolation, mental well being and many more. At Preston Physiotherapy we are striving to ensure we can reduce as many of these burdens as possible while keeping our patients safe.

A few FAQ answered below:

So what has changed?

Telehealth

We now offer telehealth as an option for certain conditions and issues. This means you can be treated from the comfort and safety of your own home.

Hygeine

We have increased our already strict hygiene protocol to include (standard hand washing and cleaning protocol still apply):

  • only one person in the waiting area (patients wait in their allocated rooms the majority of the time and we ask clients to wait in their cars until the appointment time if there is an overlap of too many clients)

  • cough screen at the front desk

  • masks worn by Physios

  • no one can attend the clinic if they have cold and flu symptoms

  • client beds are fully sterilized in between each client

  • no bed covers

Hours

We had reduced hours during the height of the spread of the virus to prevent patients contacting each other, but we are slowly returning to our full case loads over the coming months as restrictions ease. We chose to reduce our hours, we were never forced to close by the government.

Do we still do manual therapy?

YES! Physiotherapy is considered an essential service and as we have extremely strict hygiene protocol we still perform manual therapy.

Can you pay by cash?

No, there is currently no cash kept on the premises to decrease the risk of cross contamination. We accept card and can send an invoice prior to the appointment if you wish to transfer funds. We still of course accept HICAPS on site.

Is it safe to attend Physiotherapy?

Bacteria and viruses are everywhere, as soon as you leave the house there is a chance that you can catch a cold or virus. Anything you touch that someone else has touched could have bacteria on it. But this is not a recent fact, this has always been the case. However, at Preston Physiotherapy our high levels of hygiene make it much less likely that you will catch anything within our premises.
