Dry needling
Interested in dry needling?
What is dry needling?
Dry needling treats muscle tissue, and its goal is to reduce pain, inactivate trigger points (those nasty knots!) and restore function. At Preston Physiotherapy, we use dry needling in conjunction with other therapies including manual therapy and exercise to restore good muscle function and alleviate pain.
Are Physiotherapists trained to do dry needling?
Physiotherapists are technically able to legally perform dry needling after graduation. However, at Preston Physiotherapy we require all of our Physiotherapists to have undertaken additional training after graduation before using this method of treatment.
Does it hurt?
Dry needling uses needles that are far smaller than needles used to have a blood test. A small pinch is sometimes felt, but the majority of clients report that they don’t realise when we put them in!
Do I need dry needling?
Your Physiotherapist can help you determine if dry needling would be beneficial, but Physiotherapy can definitely be performed without it, some clients just love it!
